Black Friday Tips

Traditionally Black Friday is celebrated in America the day after Thanksgiving to mark the beginning of the Christmas period; however the popularity of this day has spread far and wide with more of us enjoying the madness of Black Friday.

What is Black Friday?

Black Friday, which normally occurs towards the end of November, is when retailers and big named brands offer significant discounts on a range of products. Electrical products usually have the biggest discounts, but savings can be found on most things from clothes to pet food.

Which retailers take part?

Most retailers take part in Black Friday offering some form of discount. Amazon usually kicks it off at midnight online, but sometimes will offer discounts earlier to ‘prime’ members. Retailers such as Asda, Tesco, Argos and Curry’s will often open their doors earlier for people to grab a bargain.

Hints and Tips for Black Friday.

To make sure that you get the best possible deals on Black Friday just follow these few simple tips:

1. Only buy items that you wanted/needed originally. While the discounts on certain products may make them seem like a bargain, you may end up spending more if you didn’t need the item in the beginning.

2. Shop around. Before you commit to buying anything, do quick google search and see if it worth the sale price. Many items often go up in price a few weeks before Black Friday to make it seem like it’s a heavy discount, when really the product is only worth the sale price normally.

3. Pre-register for accounts online to make bagging that bargain quicker and easier. Having an account already set up will make out the checkout process straightforward meaning you won’t miss out on that deal.

4. Sign up for newsletters. Retailers will often offer extra discounts or free delivery through their newsletters, or even give early access to their sales; this is extremely helpful if you are after a particular item.

Cyber Monday.

Cyber Monday typically occurs on the Monday following Black Friday. This is when online retailers have their sales and offer significant discounts, so don’t worry if you didn’t get chance to hit the shops on the Friday! Cyber Monday is normally only meant to last for the day, however in recent years; retailers have extended it to last the week, giving you more time to grab a bargain.

Black Friday takes place on 29th November 2019 and Cyber Monday on 2nd December 2019.
